I got started pinstriping because I have always loved both art and hotrods. Pinstriping allows me to be around both. So I picked up a brush and some paint one day and figured why not try to stripe (it was definitely the wrong paint and wrong brush). After a lot of practice and making a lot of mistakes I finally figured out what not to do.
My style of striping is inspired by traditional 1950s -1960s style pinstriping. That is what I would see at car shows and all the older magazines when I was younger. So I would say the styles painted back then are the ones that made an impression on my style.
Most memorable project: To me every project is memorable. Every piece I do either on a car or a panel etc. Has something that I have learned, Or a vehicle I’ve been lucky enough to get to put my stripes on, Or the venue itself. All these kinds of things make every project memorable for one reason or another.
Advice for beginners: The best piece of advice I can give someone starting out is ,don’t get discouraged. It takes a lot of commitment to learn to pinstripe. All you can do is practice, practice, practice. You will find your own style and what does and doesn’t work for you and the materials you use.
